Svart Crown: Witnessing the fall
14/11/12 || The Duff
Looking back at 2010, my top-five, I could tell after Deathspell Omega’s “Paracletus” I was struggling. All in all, 2010 was quite a decent year but with little true gems deserving a best-of list placing. Then I discover Ulcerate are touring with a band in 2012 called Svart Crown, I check them out and find a French black metal/death metal hybrid that is like DsO, Nightbringer, Immolation and Incantation. Like if all four bands masturbated into Lizzy Borden’s period and a necromancer resurrected the abortion, only to raise it in Auschwitz and have it write an album under the moniker Svart Crown. A very dry, naturally dark and crackly production, stellar musicianship and atmosphere deluxe. This record is killer, ferocious, catchy and one of the best of 2010.
8/10: A hidden gem for sure and highly recommended.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
